  • Similar to a daal as the base is predominantly red lentils.
  • We cook the onions and then add the spices with the chopped tomatoes for about 45 minutes to let the flavours come out.
  • Tomato puree and cinnamon spice stock are mixed, before adding some red lentils which we cook until they are just al dente.

Try it with:

  • With rice and naan bread. It’s very flavoursome so it doesn’t need much.

  • Try it with Peas Pilau.

AT COOK WE USE THE SAME INGREDIENTS YOU WOULD USE AT HOME.

We never put additives or preservatives into our food. We do occasionally use kitchen cupboard ingredients that include some additives in their sub-ingredients (for example Worcestershire Sauce used in our Spaghetti Bolognese, which contains Tamarind Extract).

Onions, Water, Red Peppers (12%), Chickpeas (11%), Cauliflower (10%), Chopped Tomatoes (Tomato Juice, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid), Red Lentils (6%), Tomato Puree, Rapeseed Oil, Spinach (2%), Garlic, Coriander, Salt, Ginger Puree, Cinnamon, Sugar, Madras Powder (Coriander, Turmeric, Chilli, Mustard, Cumin, Pepper, Fenugreek, Garlic, Salt, Fennel), Ground Cumin, Ground Coriander, Ground Turmeric, Garam Masala (Coriander, Cassia, Ginger, Cloves), Bay Leaf, Chilli Powder.

Cooking/Serving Instructions

Oven:

Pre-heat oven. Pierce film and cook in the centre of the oven.

Oven Settings

Fan 160°C, Electric 180°C, Gas Mark 4.
40-45 mins
Allow to stand for 2 mins and stir well before serving.

Microwave:

Remove sleeve, pierce film. Cook on full power.
850W
3 mins > stir gently & re-cover > 2 mins
Allow to stand for 2 mins and stir well before serving.

Defrost Instructions:

Should this product defrost, keep refrigerated and eat within 48 hours. Follow the cooking guidelines but cook for 30-35 mins.

Extra Warnings:

Steam may be released when removing film lid.
