Good People, Good Food
Posted on 1 August 2018
There’s more to business than making money. We see our purpose at COOK as ‘nourishing relationships’ and that covers a lot: between food and where it comes from, between people and their work, between business and society, and between people and their community. That’s why we offer a 30% discount for anyone organising an event that benefits their local community.
Over the past three years we have supported more than 700 events in this way, feeding around 35,000 people. There’s been a bit of everything: from sports club socials to PTA events, from faith group meetings to get-togethers for seniors, and from rural holiday camps for inner-city children to charity fundraisers. In fact, all they have in common is that they bring people together in a way that strengthens our communities, they’ve catered for 20 or more people, and that they came to COOK for the food.
The feedback from our Community Champions – the people hosting the events – has been encouraging: 89% of those who responded to a recent questionnaire said that using COOK food and the Community Discount reduced the effort and stress of catering for events; 81% said it helped make their events even better; 57% said we helped them host more people at their event; and 33% said our food allows them to host events more frequently.
“Thank you so much COOK for the great service you provide, wonderful meals which mean I can still be a hostess even though am not a particularly good cook”
Gill, Hames Burford Church
“With your generous Community Discount, we are able to work within budget and still provide a delicious ‘homemade’ meal"
Lynne, customer at COOK Southgate
Sharing a meal is the best way to begin, deepen and revive a relationship. As part of our 2020 To Do list we have included an action to support another 1,500 community events to bring people together with our 30% discount over the next three years.
Summer is the perfect season for community events, so if you’re planning on hosting an event anytime this season or beyond and would like to learn more about how we could support you please pop into your local shop and ask for more information, or visit our website.
There's nothing we love more than people getting together. It’s people like you that make the real magic happen, but if we can help with the food and make life a little easier, we'd love to lend a hand.
Thank you,
Andy
