This beautiful centrepiece pie is fully encased in golden shortcrust pastry and decorated with three hand-cut pastry leaves. Inside is tender, silverside beef cooked slowly in red wine with vegetables. Bring to the table to serve for lunch or dinner.

How we make it

We make our large steak pie in a different way to the smaller version, because the consistency of the filling needs to be slightly different as the pie is wrapped fully in shortcrust pastry. We dice silverside beef by hand and braise it for three-to-four hours. The red wine sauce is slightly thicker (so prevent the pastry going soggy). The top of the pie is decorated with hand-cut pastry leaves.
